Each year the National Association for Year-Round Education honors achieving and innovative year-round schools.

RE Schools of Merit are chosen based on:

• Increased student achievement over a period of time
  

• Being a leader in educational innovation
  

• Developing parent/community partnerships
  

• Placing a premium on student activities
  

• The implementation of a balanced calendar and advocacy for year-round education.
  

• Special recognitions and other awards

To nominate a YRE School of Merit Nominations click on the link above for the nomination form and directions. The form includes a checklist for the nomination package. The narratives and submissions need not be elaborate, but should concisely describe the school and how that school achieved the School of Merit standards listed above.

We would also request photos of the school that show: the building, students, teachers in their activities or other photos that might be of interest. Photos can either be digital (on a disk or email them to spepper@nayre.org ) or prints on photo quality paper mailed to NAYRE with the nomination.

The deadline for nominations is Nov. 30, 2007. NAYRE. NAYRE will choose this years honorees from the schools nominated and notify them by Dec. 16, 2007.
